The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Program
The Child Life Program at Mount Sinai is one of the premiere aspects of the non-medical experience that we offer our patients. The program consists of 12 full time staff who supervise 40 volunteers and 10 graduate interns and provides psychosocial support services in all ambulatory and inpatient settings for children at Mount Sinai. All of the staff are Master's educated in Child Life or a related educational field and are board certified by the Child Life Council. The Child Life program provides the following services to hospitalized patients: extended playroom programming (evenings and weekends), KIDS TV closed circuit programming, Children and Healthcare Week, holiday parties, therapeutic "coping kits" in all treatment rooms (supplies for the year), annual bereavement ceremony and memory box kits, ceramics programming, music, art and pet assisted therapy programing.
