News from the Department of Pediatrics
Mount Sinai has appointed Robert Maki, MD, PhD, as the new Chief of The Jack Martin Fund Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Maki comes to MSSM from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he was the Associate Professor of Medicine and Co-Director of the Adult Sarcoma Program.
Dr. Maki will be instrumental in expanding the breadth of the pediatric clinical program in Hematology/Oncology, focusing on soft tissue and bone sarcomas, adolescent cancer care, and transitioning pediatric cancer patients to adult care.
An Update from Child Life
With generous funding from the CCF in 2010, the Child Life Department provided thousands of Mount Sinai pediatric patients with dynamic, state-of-the-art therapeutic services. Weekend Zone programming, art therapy, music therapy, family centered care initiatives and KidZone TV live broadcasts were among the many offerings for children and families.
A highlight of the year was a visit and performance by outstanding talent from The Metropolitan Opera. They reenacted part of The Magic Flute which aired on KZTV
 News from the CCF Board Room
The Mount Sinai Children's Center Foundation (CCF) is proud to welcome Nancy and Roland Chemtob and Jody and Ira Schwartz to the CCF Board of Directors. The Chemtobs and the Schwartz's have been actively involved in the CCF for many years, generously donating time and financial support to many Big Apple Circus benefits. Both families have also been active supporters of initiatives surrounding the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mount Sinai .
